It's hard to explain (or even visualize). There is a pivot around the bottom bracket.
Check out the Corsair website - I believe there are diagrams there. |

From what I understand, it's primary function is too actually prevent mud from building up and collecting in that gap. The thinking behind it is that a small piece of foam there is a lot lighter than a heavy clump of mud. :p

The seat stay may be bent if it bottoms out - pressure will be applied across the tube at a very weak point.
It looks like a really cool design though. Tricky to see a way of fitting in the seat tube in there without interfering with the linkages and shock - they take up a large area. Providing you keep it all fairly narrow, I guess it shouldn't be too hard to have the seat tube bend around it all, so that the linkages and shock are all running between the tube. Good luck with it. Looks really good. |

That frame would have a high centre of gravity with the shock in that position. The shock would also be liable to damage if, say, the rider misses the seat and lands on the top tube. Also, it looks like the shock may hit the top tube towards the end of its travel?
